Baked & Delicious Giveaway

I have been given a copy of a new baking magazine Baked & Delicious to review. I got issue#2 which comes with a silicone spatula and pastry brush. It's a slim, easy to read magazine with only 26 pages but filled with beautiful photos and clear instructions.  The magazine is divided into different sections:

  • Desserts
  • Breads & Savouries
  • Celebration Cakes
  • Patiserrie & fancy cakes
  • Classic cakes
  • Biscuits & Bakes
  • Better Baking Techniques

It has a short history section and beautiful step-by-step photos which I particularly like.  For example, in this issue there is a recipe for tropical fruit pavlova which looks delicious.  Did you know that the legendary ballerina Anna Pavlova inspired this dessert when she visited New Zealand in the 1930s? To preview the first issue which gives you an idea about the layout and design, click here.

For one lucky reader, you can win issues 2 -5 including the free silicone bakeware! Here's a preview of what's coming up in issue#3 and #4.

Lemon drizzle cake, Sacher torte, Pizza margherita, Tarte tatin

Quiche Lorraine, Florentines, Angel food cake, Oatcakes

For a chance at winning, you need to be a resident in UK or Ireland.  Please leave a comment to tell me which is your favourite baking equipment and why. You also need to Like the Facebook page http://on.fb.me/bakedanddeliciousfacebook
Please leave your email address so I can contact you.  The closing date is Thurs 7th April at 2300 GMT. The lucky winner will be chosen at random.  Prizes will be sent directly by Baked & Delicious. Good luck!

  2. What a nice looking magazine!

My favourite baking implement has to be my silicone spatula from Habitat. It's not a fancy appliance but its absolutely indispensable as it enables me to get every last bit of cake, cookie or bread batter from the bowl!

  3. My fav baking equipment is definitely my KitchenAid mixer. It does so many jobs, and it looks awesome sitting there on my counter :)

  4. Having had the 1st issue of this, I really want the next ones and accompanying silicone bakeware. Because, not to be creepy or anything, it is silicone that has revolutionised my baking - specifically silicone cake moulds and spatulas- so much less wasted batter (so much less to lick of course).

  5. Ok, I’m a novice baker and I dabble in the kitchen once in a while when I find myself craving for something sweet.
I recently baked a cheesecake, which turned out better than I had expected. I used a Dualit Professional hand mixer for which I never would have achieved that ‘creamy consistency’ stated in the recipe. This is my favourite baking equipment cos it makes baking soo much easier. You get the fluffiness or creaminess much quicker rather than manually whisking the ingredients in the bowl until your arm falls off… Already looking for another recipe to try. rgcabida@hotmail.com

  6. Ooh, what a nice prize! I have the first issue and it's lovely but I haven't seen the next one in our (tiny) local shop.

My favourite kitchen toy is my Kenwood Chef. It gets used at least three or four times a week and I would be lost without it. My mum got hers when she got married in 1970 and it's still going strong :)

  7. My favourite piece of baking equipment is a small palette knife which is actually an artists palette knife. I use at every baking session. It is ideal for lifting biscuits off trays and for spreading fillings and toppings. A very close second is my trusty hand mixer.

  8. Hmmm... so many favourites, it's hard to choose. In a small kitchen I manage to make lovely creations with the basic, small implements that fit in my little London flat such as my handheld mixer which save space and are just as good as the fancier flashier worktop tools. Baking fills our little home with delicious aromas making it a cosier, yummier place to be! My lemon drizzle cakes and chocolate lime cakes go down a treat. As do my regular Sunday morning creations - cinammon and vanilla pancakes (no lumps thanks to that trusty handheld mixer!).

  9. The equipment I use most often in the kitchen is definitely my electric hand whisk. I realise that most of the time it's not necessary, and I could do things by hand (indeed, I did during my first year of university), but it just makes everything so much quicker - sponge cake ready to go in the oven in less than 4 minutes, anyone?

  10. My favourite piece of kitchen equipment is my Bamix. Such a small piece of equipment that can do everything! Especially great for chopping up nuts or pureeing berries.

  11. You are so lucky to get good books from the library. Sad to say, I often borrow books full of missing pages. :(Bakery Equipment
